Police Hunt for Additional Suspect in Tangerang Orphanage Abuse Case

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police pursued another suspect in a sexual abuse case involving several residents of an orphanage in Kunciran Indah, Pinang District, Tangerang City, Banten. 

Antaranews.com reported that the abuse allegedly involved two staff members, identified as YS (49) and YB (30).

“Suspect YS is currently on the run and has been added to the wanted list,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi, on Tuesday (8/10/2024)..

The investigation also involves the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection to ensure a thorough resolution.

The number of victims has risen to seven, including four children and three adults, according to Tangerang City Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Zain Dwi Nugroho. The case began with a report on 2 July 2024, but investigations were delayed due to the victims’ trauma.

Two suspects, the orphanage’s chairman and a caregiver, have been arrested.
