Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Central Java Regional Police are hunting down the mastermind who hired members of GRIB Jaya, a civil society organization better known locally as ormas, to vandalize and steal assets belonging to state railway company PT KAI in Semarang.
“The suspects were paid Rp 1.7 million by the mastermind who ordered the crime,” said Central Java Police’s Director of General Crime Investigation Senior Superintendent. Dwi Subagio on Thursday (22/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Four GRIB Jaya members have been named as suspects. They admitted receiving orders from a person identified as E, reportedly the child of a former occupant of the PT KAI property—abandoned official residences.
The suspects vandalized and looted PT KAI property at six different locations. Evidence seized includes a vehicle used to transport the stolen goods and a mandate letter signed by the GRIB Jaya Semarang chairman.
Police suspect dozens more GRIB Jaya members were involved. Suspect E is currently being sought and has been urged to surrender.
The suspects face charges under Article 170 or Article 363 of the Criminal Code for violence and theft.
