Inp.polri.go.id - Lombok. Police Senior Superintendent Kobul Syahrin Ritonga, the Director of Marine and Air Police of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police, has announced that his department will launch an investigation into the surge of explosives in Lombok. This decision comes in the wake of the arrest of an elderly individual, known as A, who was arrested while in possession of 1.000 detonators and other explosive materials.

He intended to ascertain whether there is any connection to a terrorist network following the detention of this elderly individual from Labuhan Alas Village, Alas District, Sumbawa Regency, NTB.

"We will thoroughly explore the potential link between the production of explosives and any existing terrorist networks in Bima," he said on Wednesday (5/7/23).

He further revealed that the 1.840 detonators confiscated from A will undergo examination by the Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88). He emphasized that the detonators in A's possession possess considerable explosive power. Simulations indicate that the blast radius of a single detonator on land can reach up to 100 meters.

"We will delve deeper into this matter. Could these detonators be the fundamental building blocks for bombs utilized by terrorist networks? Just imagine the destructive potential if all 1,000 detonators were to explode. However, it should be noted that the blast radius of a single detonator in a marine environment only extends up to 10 meters," he concluded.
