Inp.polri.go.id - Tegal. In the aftermath of the tragic fire at a karaoke lounge in Tegal, Central Java, the police have revealed the root cause of the incident.
"The fire was caused by a short circuit," said Senior Superintendent Stefanus Satake Bayu, the Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Central Java Regional Police, on Wednesday (17/1/2024).
The spokesperson explained that the fire initially originated in the prayer room on the third floor. Subsequently, the flames ignited combustible materials such as plastic, wood, carpets, and foam due to a short circuit in the electrical system and the connection of the exhaust fan motor to the main electrical installation cables.
"The ignition of flammable materials caused the initially small fire to escalate into the devastating blaze," he said..
The fire claimed the lives of six karaoke lounge hostesses. All the victims have been identified.
