Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto addressed the recent withdrawal of the South Korean consortium led by LG from the electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain project in Indonesia.
Following a meeting with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi on Tuesday (22/4/2025), he raised his confidence that Indonesia would remain an attractive destination for investors.
"There will definitely be collaborations with other companies, just wait and see," President Prabowo remarked, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He further emphasized his optimism about Indonesia’s economic future, saying, "Indonesia is big, Indonesia is strong, Indonesia is bright."
The South Korean consortium, which includes LG Energy Solution, LG Chem, and other partners, had planned a project worth 11 trillion won (Rp130.7 trillion) to build an EV battery supply chain in Indonesia.
This initiative aimed to utilize Indonesia’s vast nickel resources, crucial for EV batteries, to make the country a global EV battery hub.
