Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced on Sunday (31/8/2024) that his government and political party leaders had agreed to abolish legislators’ allowances and impose a moratorium on overseas working visits by members of the House of Representatives (DPR).
“Several DPR policies have been agreed to be revoked, including lawmakers’ allowances and foreign working visits,” he said at the Merdeka Palace, as quoted by antaranews.com..
The decision came amid growing nationwide protests demanding transparency, accountability, and the repeal of controversial policies. President Prabowo added that DPR would open direct dialogue with students, civil society, and community leaders to absorb public aspirations.
The President stressed that other proposals would be formally processed through DPR delegations.
