Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced on Monday (7/4/2025) a target of equipping 80,000 village cooperatives, known locally as Koperasi Desa Merah Putih, with trucks for crop distribution, cold storage facilities, and affordable pharmacies.
Each cooperative will receive credit-backed support to purchase two trucks per village, enabling farmers to transport harvests directly to markets.
“We hope every village co-op has two trucks so no harvest goes unsold,” President Prabowo said during the National Harvest Festival in Majalengka, West Java, as quoted by antaranews.com .
The cooperatives will also distribute subsidized fertilizers directly to farmers' groups), cutting out middlemen. In addition, rural pharmacies will sell affordable generic medicines to communities.
“These generic drugs may come in plain boxes, but they’re just as effective, and cost maybe a third or even 10 percent of urban prices,” said President Prabowo, emphasizingt his goal of reducing food prices and ensuring farmers’ prosperity through better market access and support.
