Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has introduced the Garuda ID system for supporters wishing to purchase tickets for national team matches to enhance supporter safety during events.
PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga explained on Thursday (24/10/2024) that the decision follows incidents at the Indonesia vs. Australia match in September 2024, where ticketless supporters managed to enter the stadium.
"We noticed crowds exceeding capacity and cases where fans arrived only to find their tickets already used," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
To obtain a Garuda ID, supporters must register with PSSI by providing personal details, including email and identification documents. Once verified, each fan will receive a unique code for ticket purchases, ensuring only legitimate ticket holders can enter.
The system will also incorporate facial recognition technology to prevent ticket scalping and to improve the safety and comfort for fans.
Supporters can experience the new process during the World Cup 2026 qualifier match against Japan on 15 November 2024.
