Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Wondama Bay, West Papua, on Friday at 12:22 am.
According to an early warning released via the infoBMKG application in Jakarta, the earthquake's epicenter was located offshore at a depth of 10 kilometers, with coordinates 2.29° S, 134.27° E, approximately 55 kilometers northwest of Wondama Bay.
The tremor was felt briefly in several areas with an intensity scale of II-III in Wondama Bay, according to antaranews.com.
BMKG's preliminary seismological analysis confirmed that the earthquake poses no tsunami threat.
