Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, erupted on Wednesday night (16/10/2024), releasing volcanic ash and flames up to 1 kilometer from its peak at 10.23 pm local time.

M. Wafid, theHead of the Geological Agency, said that the eruption was clearly observed from the monitoring post. 

Thick gray ash was seen drifting northwest. The seismic activity recorded a maximum amplitude of 9.6 mm, lasting for approximately 6 minutes and 18 seconds, according to antaranews.com.

The volcano remains at Alert Level III, and residents are advised to stay at least 3 kilometers away from the summit, with a 4-kilometer exclusion zone in some directions.

Nearby villages, including Klatanlo and Boru, are closely monitored for potential hazards from the ongoing eruption.
