inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a circular regarding the theme of Friday Sermons on January 31st and February 7th, 2025 in order to commemorate the International Day of Human Fraternity which falls every February 4th.
"As a support for the commemoration, as last year, we issued a circular urging Friday preachers to convey messages of human brotherhood during the two Friday prayers on January 31st, 2025 and February 7th, 2025," said Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abu Rokhmad on Thursday (1/30/2025).
The circular is addressed to the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the province/Head of the provincial Mosque Welfare Body (BKM), Head of the Regency/City Ministry of Religious Affairs Office/Head of the Regency/City BKM, Head of the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of the sub-district/Head of the sub-district BKM, Heads of the village/sub-district BKM, and Chairmen of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) throughout Indonesia.
The International Day of Human Fraternity was established by the United Nations (UN) on February 4, 2019.
This determination is related to the signing of the Charter of Human Fraternity by Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al Tayeb and the Leader of the Catholic Church Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
"Specifically, there are two main messages that we want to highlight in the commemoration of the International Day of Human Fraternity 2025. First, a joint movement to empower people with disabilities for an inclusive future. Second, caring for the environment," explained Director General Rokhmad.
In addition to the sermon circulation, the Ministry of Religion in collaboration with the Muslim Law Council (MHM) also held a Friday Sermon writing competition with the same theme, inclusion and environment.
MHM is an international institution founded by Grand Sheikh Al Azhar Ahmed Al Tayeb, an Indonesian figure who also served as Minister of Religion (1998) M. Quraish Shihab is listed as the founder and member.
