Bogor- Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, asked all regions that have not reached the vaccination target of 70 per cent as targeted by President Joko Widodo to continue accelerating. According to the Ministry of Health data, the new variant of Covid-19, Omicron, has entered Indonesia. This statement was made by Sigit while attending the peak event of 20 years of service for the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy 2021 'Dwipa Arya', which held mass vaccinations, provided social assistance, built and renovated places of worship at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor Regency, West Java, Tuesday ( 28/12). "For areas where vaccine achievement is currently not optimal. Carry out acceleration," said Sigit after reviewing the peak event. To anticipate the rapid spread of Omicron, the former Chief of Banten Regional Police emphasized that the acceleration of vaccination must be carried out immediately, especially for the elderly and teenagers. "We must continue to increase the acceleration of vaccination. Because at this time, we know that the new variant of Omicron, as previously stated, there have been 48 people exposed. One is being carried out tracing and testing because the person concerned has escaped from quarantine. So this is a concern for all of us," said the former Head of the Indonesian National Police-Criminal Investigation Agency. The acceleration of vaccination that must be carried out said Sigit, is also a form of readiness and anticipation to welcome the 2022 New Year, increasing mobility and crowds. Related to this, Sigit appealed to the public to avoid or not to assemble because it is feared that there will be a spike in Covid-19 like what happened in the previous year. "Currently, we are approaching the end of the year. There will be potential for community mobility and crowds at the end of the year, which is usually done. However, it is best to avoid it on this occasion and carry out what is stipulated in the Circular of the Minister of Home Affairs. So follow it. Avoid crowds because we don't want this to happen. Transmission of contagion when the crowd occurs," said Sigit. On the other hand, Sigit explained that people who have received vaccine injections would increase immunity and reduce fatalities from the spread of the Covid-19 virus, including Omicron. Therefore, Sigit pays more attention to people who have not received vaccinations. He invited all residents to come to the vaccination booths that have been provided by the Indonesian National Armed Forces-Indonesian National Police and the local government. "With the vaccine in the body, the effects or fatalities can be overcome. But those who haven't been vaccinated, please be vigilant and carry out vaccinations immediately. We have opened outlets throughout the Regional Government, Indonesian National Armed Forces, Indonesian National Police. So those who haven't been vaccinated, please get vaccinated immediately so that we are ready to face the new Omicron variant," said Sigit. In addition to vaccination, Sigit also asked areas with access to state entrances, such as airports, ports and cross-border posts, to strictly enforce health protocols, especially for international travellers. Sigit instructed Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel, Indonesian National Police, and other relevant officers to supervise the mandatory quarantine period strictly. "On this occasion, I order, to areas that have entrances, International Airports, cross-border posts, then Port areas, which are the entrances for our citizens who come from abroad, please carry out inspections related to health protocols to be maximized. Quarantine provisions 10- 14 days must really be implemented. Don't let anyone pass, don't let anyone leave three days later, "said Sigit. Vigorous enforcement of health protocols, especially for international travellers, said Sigit, as an effort to protect and safeguard other communities from the potential transmission of the new variant of Covid-19, Omicron. Because in the current Pandemic, according to Sigit, people's safety is the highest law or Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto. "So, of course, our common hope is how to re-strengthen health protocols, starting from the use of masks, those who haven't been vaccinated immediately, to increase vaccine acceleration, and to supervise those who do quarantine. Those who violate I ask for sanctions. That is to protect us. We uphold Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto. People's safety is the highest law that we must protect," said Sigit. Not to forget, on this occasion, Sigit appreciated the synergy of the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy 2021, which has accelerated vaccination, distributed social assistance to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and carried out the construction of places of worship. "I gave my appreciation to the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy 2021. Today, the culmination of a series of activities that have been carried out for 16 days where the activities are helping to accelerate vaccination. So from the existing data, more than 3 million have been achieved. And today, the target is approximately 90 thousand vaccination. And this is certainly part of the contribution of the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy 2021 to complement the contributions of other colleagues who have also carried out a series of accelerated vaccination activities," said Sigit. Sigit, who Chief of Indonesian National Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant Eko Margiyono accompanied, also took the time to greet the area holding the event virtually. Among others are West Kalimantan Regional Police, North Maluku Regional Police, and East Java Regional Police.
