inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hery Heryawan stated that 21 forest and land fire hotspots are still being monitored. He made this statement after attending a meeting with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
"We are still detecting 21 medium-category hotspots, and 9 have been declared firespots," said the Riau Police Chief on Monday (7/28/2025).
He stated that the nine hotspots are located in Pelalawan Regency (1), Bengkalis Regency (3), Meranti Islands Regency (4), and Rohul Regency (1). There are also 1,138 canal blocks, of which 980 are in good condition.
"There are also 199 deep groundwater wells and 276 fire observation towers, which are vital for visual monitoring of hotspots," he said.
Hery stated that 51 suspects have been named in the land fire case. They were named suspects in the forest and land fires that occurred on 296 hectares of land.
