inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Riau Regional Police has destroyed 34.05 kilogram meth and 10,190 ecstasy pills. The evidence previously has been seized from 33 suspects allegedly linked to an international drug ring.
The drug termination activity that was held at Riau Regional Police HQ was led directly by Riau Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal. Also present in the activity were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum and other guests.
The drugs were destroyed by throwing it into a bowl of fire mixed with floor cleaning fluid.
“The total drug evidence destroyed are 34.05 kilograms of meth and 10,190 ecstasy pills with a total value of 34,086,030,000 IDR,” says the Drug Criminal Investigation Director of Riau Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Manang Soebeti.
He explains that the total drug evidence seized by the police are from 16 cases handled by his party with the total suspect of 33. The arrested suspects are the importers, dealers, couriers to international network distributors.
Manang Soebeti further adds that Riau Regional Police has estimated they have saved thousands of lives from the drugs.
“If this illicit items successfully circulated, we assumed there would be 340,656 people who fell victim to these drugs,” says Manang.
Manang also thanked the Aviation Security of Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport and Customs for their cooperation in the several drugs uncovering.
“Several cases were uncovered thanks to them. Suspects were stopped from traveling through air and Customs in water after finding the drugs,” thanked Manang.
The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009.
