Sorong Sub-regional Police are pursuing a suspect after a young homemaker was fatally stabbed outside St Bernardus Catholic Church in Aimas, Sorong Regency, on Sunday, shortly after she arrived with her child via a ride-hailing service; the child survived and is receiving assistance.
“Minutes after the victim got off the vehicle, the suspect, who was already nearby, approached and stabbed her with a sharp weapon,” said Criminal Investigation Chief First Inspector Erikson Sitorus on
Police secured the crime scene, questioned witnesses, and confirmed the suspect’s identity while launching a manhunt. Investigators said the assailant fled in a black Toyota Hilux without license plates. The victim attempted to seek help at the church entrance but collapsed and died from stab wounds.
Authorities are probing the motive and any prior relationship between the victim and the suspect, urging the public to remain calm and avoid unverified information as the investigation continues.
