Chief of PR Agency of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Mochammad Rifai, explained that both perpetrators were arrested by the joint forces of Subdirectorate 1 of General Criminal Investigation Directorate backed by the Tiger Team of South Kalimantan Regional Police and the Crime with Violence of Banjar and Banjarbaru Departmental Police.
"The suspects, initialled AY and MK, were arrested after conducting fraud of land transaction owned by other people without rights", Chief of PR Agency of South Kalimantan Regional Police said on Friday (3/12/2021).
Chief of PR Agency explained that the Police investigation was started from the victim's reports who just bought the land in the Tatah Layap street, Kertak Hanyar district, Banjar regency to the perpetrators. However, the "bought" land belongs to others. MK only admitted that the land is theirs to the victim.
"Felt being cheated because he has paid Rp2.4 billion for the transaction, the victim reported to South Kalimantan Regional Police, in which the case is being handled by Subdirectorate 1 of General Criminal Investigation Directorate", he said.
Not long after the victim reported, the joint forces moved quickly to arrest the perpetrators.
"So someone claimed as the owner of the land who showed the original copy of the document and never sold the land to the two perpetrators", Police Grand Commissioner Mochammad Rifai said.
The investigators are now developing the case to know whether there is any involvement from local agency employees or the people of Land Titles Registrar in this land transaction fraud case.
He reminded the public to be more aware of land transaction fraud by checking the document legality to prevent becoming the victim of the land mafias.
