inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. The East Flores Sub-Regional Police Medical Unit and the medical health of East Flores and Sikka Regency continue to provide health service to the people affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.

The service was provided at four evacuation posts, namely in Konga Village, Bokang Village, Lewolaga Village, and Lewoingu Village to ensure the medical needs of the refugees are met.

The health team consists of seven doctors and 65 health workers, who are tasked with handling various common complaints such as coughs, colds, and Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ARI) which are often experienced by refugees.

The Head Ops of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Deonejiu De Fatima, who directly went to the location, says that the medical service was held to ensure people’s health conditions are well maintained amidst the difficult times.

"Refugees who are experiencing health problems have received health services from the medical team on standby at each refugee post," explained Fatima on Tuesday (11/12/24).

In addition to medical examinations, the health team also provided education to residents about the importance of maintaining physical and mental health in stressful situations like this.

Based on data from the Lewolaga Health Center, there were 63 evacuees who suffered minor injuries. They have received recommendations to undergo outpatient treatment and are currently at the evacuation post for recovery.

In addition to health services, the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police are also carrying out other recovery efforts, including a trauma healing program for children affected by the disaster.

The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, together with volunteers, set up a public kitchen to provide food for evacuees and distribute clean water using the Water Gen car.

The presence of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police medical unit at the disaster location has shown the police's commitment to supporting the community who are facing difficult times due to natural disasters
