Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Suspended Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of accepting bribes in handling cases at the Supreme Court and committing money laundering.

Presiding Judge Fahzal Hendri announced the verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (15/10/2024), saying, “The defendant, Gazalba Saleh, is proven guilty of corruption and money laundering as charged in both counts."

Gazalba violated Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption, as amended by Law No. 20/2001,  and Law No. 8/2010 on Money Laundering. In addition to his prison sentence, he was fined Rp 500 million or face an additional four months in prison.

The court considered several factors in its ruling, including Gazalba's failure to support the government’s anti-corruption efforts and the damage caused to the Supreme Court's reputation.

The sentence was lighter than the 15 years requested by prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
