Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin says the reduction of disaster risk should be the indicator of regional head work performance.

“Because the mitigation of disaster impact in regional area will also support guaranteeing food sustainability, education, and public health, also environmental sustainability, which eventually led to the improvement of local economy and public prosperity,” said Ma’ruf Amin when giving his speech during National Coordination Meeting on Disaster Mitigation on Wednesday (4/24/2024).

He explains that Indonesia has the geographic and geological condition that is prone to disaster. Throughout 2023, there are 5,400 disasters, which are dominated by hydrometeorology.

“On the other hand, there are many regencies/cities throughout Indonesia has high disaster risk index, and it requires disaster mitigation that is more careful and innovative,” said Ma’ruf Amin.

He stressed that all steps and plans in disaster response must be able to suppress the disaster's impact on society and economy.

In his closing statement, VP Ma’ruf Amin also underscores that in disaster mitigation efforts, various preventive, rescue, and rehabilitative efforts must be executed with synergy, simultaneous, fast, safe, and accurate.
