inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi confirms that Temu application has been banned in Indonesia and will not be able to operate anymore in the country.

The step is taken to protect the local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the business models implemented by the application.

“The business model of this application is providing the products straight from the manufacturer. What endangers our MSMEs is that most manufacturers are from another country,” explains Minister Budi.

The Minister of Communication and Information also explained that although the app can still be accessed, transactions can no longer be made, and the application taken down from the App Store and Play Store is in process.

Not only Temu, Minister Budi also aimed to take down other similar applications such as Shein which run a similar business concept, namely direct sales from abroad to Indonesian consumers.

"Shein sells fashion and cosmetic products in the same way as Temu. We must protect our MSMEs, both in Tasikmalaya, Pekalongan, and other areas," said the Minister Budi.

This step was taken as part of the government's efforts to protect the MSME ecosystem in Indonesia from unfair competition with foreign companies.

"Electronic System Organizer for Temu will not be given, and the same will be true if there are similar applications trying to apply," underscores Minister Budi.
