Inp.polri.go.id - Surakarta.  A torch relay, or locally known as Pawai Obor, which started on Saturday from Mrapen concluded in Surakarta, Central Java on Sunday (29/9/2024), marking the launch of the 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVII, scheduled for 6 to 14  October 2024.

On the second day in Surakarta, the torch relay commenced at Sriwedari Stadium and ended at the Surakarta City Hall. The torch, carried by Suryo Nugroho, a silver medalist at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, was handed to Senny Marbun, the Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia, as reported by antaranews.com.

Senny then passed the torch to DB Susanto, the Chairman of Peparnas XVII 2024, who lit the cauldron at Surakarta City Hall.

"This is an extraordinary pride; even the Olympics has the symbol of fire to ignite the spirit, indicating that the event is set to take place," said Senny, confirming that preparations for Peparnas 2024 are 100% complete.
