Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that the projected number of Eid homecoming travelers in 2025 is expected to decline compared to last year.
“The potential movement of people this year is lower than in 2024,” said Budi Rahardjo, the Head of the Transportation Ministry’s Public Communication Bureau, on Saturday (22/3/2025).
A survey by the Transportation Policy Agency estimates 146.48 million travelers, about 52% of Indonesia’s population—a 24% drop from 193.6 million in 2024. Conducted in February, the survey reflects public perceptions but does not analyze causes.
The Ministry spokesperson Elba Damhuri added that the study did not examine factors behind the decrease.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce predicted lower Eid-related economic activity. Based on the travel decline, money circulation during Eid 2025 is expected to reach Rp 137.9 trillion, down from Rp 157.3 trillion in 2024.
