Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  During the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings this week, Bank Indonesia highlighted the need for a flexible policy mix to navigate growing global uncertainties. 

Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta underscored on Saturday (26/10/2024) the importance of addressing spillover effects on developing economies, advocating for central banks’ policy flexibility, coordinated fiscal and monetary efforts, and support from international financial institutions to ensure macroeconomic stability.

As part of strengthened multilateral cooperation, the Central BankI supported the 16th General Review of Quotas to enhance the IMF’s financial safety net, and the 17th Review to improve developing nations' representation within the IMF.

Amid stable global growth projections, economic challenges persist, including disinflation in advanced economies, Middle East geopolitical tensions, and geo-economic fragmentation. BI emphasized that controlling inflation, fiscal consolidation, and policy coordination are crucial to sustaining economic growth.
