West Java Police Arrest Two Members of Cambodia-Based Online Gambling Syndicate

Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police Directorate of Cybercrime arrested two suspects, identified as N and YA, who are part of an international online gambling syndicate based in Cambodia. The suspects managed a gambling website called Menang Hore.

"The arrest occurred on 11 October 2024, during a cyber patrol, which uncovered the gambling site allegedly operated by suspect N," said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast on Thursday (17/10/2024).

Suepect N was responsible for managing the site, while YA was in charge of designing its interface. On 12 October 2024, suspect N was arrested at his residence in West Jakarta, followed by suspect YA shortly after.

The investigation revealed that suspect N had 12 associates in Cambodia, and the syndicate’s leader, identified as Sungkai Halim alias AK47, also operated from Cambodia. The site reportedly generated daily deposits ranging from Rp 98 million to Rp 200 million.

Police seized evidence, including a laptop, iPhone, ATM cards, credit cards, and Rp 112 million suspected to be from the gambling proceeds.

Both suspects face up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to Rp 10 billion under the amended  Information and Electronic Transactions  Law.
