inp.polri.go.id - The Directorate of Water and Air Police of the West Papua Police held a Commemoration Ceremony for the 77th Independence Day of Indonesia with all the people of Raam Island, Sorong Islands District, Sorong City, Thursday (18/8/22).
The ceremony to commemorate the 77th Indonesian Independence Day was led directly by the Director of Water and Air Police of the West Papua Police, Commissioner Budy Utomo, and was held on the beach, took place in a very solemn manner.
"We from the Directorate of Water and Air Police want to get closer with the people of Raam in this moment of joy and invite all of them to jointly maintain security and order in the Sorong City, especially in the Raam Village," explained the Dirpolairud Polda West Papua.
He adds that he was very concerned about the crimes in the province of West Papua, especially on Raam Island. From several existing police reports, especially those handled by the Water Police, there are still illegal fishing cases, including those who usedexplosives, in Raam island.
Therefore, the Director of Water Police of West Papua Police implores all people of Raam Island, especially those who work as fishermen, not to catch fish using explosives.
The results from using explosives are also insignificant when compared to the punishment received if caught by the police.
"Therefore, we ask for your cooperation to promise not do that anymore," explained Dirpolairud Polda Papua. West.
After the flag ceremony, it was followed by the reading of the Declaration by the residents of Raam Island. The declaration reads that they are ready to support the Government in protecting the environment and marine biota's living environment. Then ready to support prevention and law enforcement efforts related to fish bombs, and ready to support all law enforcement efforts carried out by Water and Air Police Directorate of West Papua.
At the end of the ceremony, Commissioner Budi Utomo gave some food supplies to the people who present at the ceremony.
