Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police vowed to prosecute everyone involved in online gambling activities, including players, operators, financiers, and promoters.
“There will be no tolerance for gambling in any form,” said Superintendent Slamet Riyanto, the Head of Cyber Sub-Directorate V of the Yogyakarta Police, on Wednesday night (6/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
His remarks clarified social media rumors about the arrest of five suspects allegedly “tricking” gambling sites.
The arrests followed community reports of suspicious activity. Police identified five suspects, consisting of four operators and one coordinator who were running multiple accounts to exploit promotional bonuses from gambling sites.
The case is now under investigation, with the Yogyakarta Police pledging strict and transparent legal action if broader networks are uncovered.
The suspects face up to 10 years in prison and fines of Rp 10 billion under the ITE Law and Criminal Code.
