Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi estimated that 110.6 million people will travel across Indonesia during the Christmas and New Year holiday season.
“This projection is based on our survey, with travelers utilizing various modes of transportation,” he said after a coordination meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Monday (16/12/2024).
The survey by the Ministry of Transportation found that air travel will dominate public transportation use, with an estimated 8.2 million passengers flying. Rail services are expected to transport around 6.8 million passengers, while bus terminals will serve approximately 2.5 million travelers, according to antaranews.com.
Sea crossings and ports are projected to handle 1.6 million and 1.3 million passengers, respectively, while the remainder will use private vehicles.
Regarding toll roads, Minister Dudy clarified that free toll access is limited to functional toll roads still under construction to facilitate smoother travel.
The Ministry will offer free land transport for 3,500 passengers and complimentary sea transport for 29,972 passengers on 100 routes. Motorcycle transportation by rail will also be available free of charge.
