Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A 14-year-old boy, who is accused of killing his father and grandmother as well as injuring his mother, is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at the Indonesian National Police (INP) Bhayangkara Hospital.
South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Ade Rahmat Idnal confirmed on Monday (16/12/2024) that the Indonesian Association of Forensic Psychology (Apsifor) recommended the mental health check.
The suspect, identified as MAS, will be observed by psychiatrists from the Bhayangkara Hospitali and RSCM Hospital for 14 days to assess his mental state.
The police will determine if he is mentally fit to face criminal charges. A court will ultimately decide his legal responsibility during trial, according to antaranews.com.
The killings occurred on 30 November 2024, at 1 am in the Bona Indah housing complex in South Jakarta.
The boy allegedly murdered his father and grandmother, identified as APW (40), and grandmother, RM (69), and wounded his mother, identified as AP (40).
Security footage showed him leaving the scene before being detained by a guard. Suspect MAS reportedly told investigators that he had been hearing disturbing whispers.
