Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A multi-vehicle collision involving 17 vehicles on KM 92B of the Cipularang Toll Road in Purwakarta, West Java, claimed one life and left eight others injured on Monday afternoon (11/11/2024), West Java Police Regional Chief Inspector General Akhmad Wiyagus confirmed.
“Currently, there is one confirmed death and eight people injured, though details are still being verified,” he said after a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR)’s Commission III in Jakarta.
Following the session, he planned to visit the accident site, a known accident-prone area, to assess the situation firsthand, according to antaranews.com.
Preliminary investigations suggest the pile-up was triggered by a heavily loaded truck that experienced brake failure, causing it to crash into several vehicles ahead. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm., according to West Java Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast in Bandung.
Police have dispatched about ten officers to manage the scene, including officers from the Indoensian National Police’s Traffic Corps, West Java Highway Patrol, and Purwakarta Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit.
