"Stay calm, there's no need to panic," said Margiono, the Head of the Kupang Geophysical Station, on Sunday (24/3/2024).. The quake struck at a depth of 41 km, 128 km southeast of Ende at 11.04 am local time.  It was a shallow tectonic event resulting from active fault movement beneath the seabed, with a horizontal uplifting motion. The tremors reverberated across multiple regions, including Ende, Larantuka, Waingapu, Bajawa, Maumere, Sabu, and even Bima in West Nusa Tenggara.
