Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Investigators at the Deputy Attorney General's Office (AGO) for Special Crimes have named Surabaya's "crazy rich" Budi Said (BS) as a suspect in an illegal transaction case involving a conspiracy related to the sale and purchase of ANTAM gold, on Thursday (18/1/2024). "Based on the intensive examination, the individual's status has been elevated to a suspect," announced Kuntadi, the Director of Investigations. The case, spanning March to November 2018, implicates BS and individuals identified as EA, AP, EKA, and MD, who conspired to manipulate gold transactions, including some employees of PT ANTAM. The manipulation involved setting the selling price below PT ANTAM's established price, falsely claiming a discount from the company. Consequently, PT ANTAM lost oversight over the quantity of precious metal and money transacted, resulting in a substantial discrepancy between the funds provided by the suspect and the amount of precious metal delivered. "To mask this discrepancy, the suspects created alleged fake documents, suggesting that the transaction had indeed occurred and that PT ANTAM had a shortfall in delivering precious metal," explained Kuntadi. The suspect and accomplices' malicious activities resulted in PT ANTAM incurring a loss of 1.136 tons of precious metal, equivalent to around IDR 1.1 trillion. "The suspect has allegedly violated Article 2, paragraph 1, and Article 3, in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Criminal Act, along with Article 55, paragraph 1, clause 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code," he said.
