Senior Inspector Teguh Trio Handoko, Head of the Narcotics Unit, revealed on Thursday (18/1/2024) that some suspects were part of a carnophen circulation network, with two from Tuban and one from Jakarta. The arrest of suspect M in the Perbon residential area, with 900 seized carnophen pills, led to the apprehension of others. M admitted obtaining the drugs from WA, who was later arrested with 19,300 pills hidden in an unoccupied house in Karang, Semanding. M and WA confessed to sourcing drugs from J, paying 2.5 million per thousand pills, sold on the market for up to 6 million. WA conducted this illegal business twice, receiving supplies from Jakarta. "The second shipment, consisting of 4,800 pills, had already been distributed," Chief Teguh said. The suspects will be charged under Articles 112 and 114 of the Narcotics Law, carrying a 5 to 20-year prison sentence. (mg/rd/pr/nm)
