Agriculture Ministry Highlights Huge Potentials on Herb Export

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Agriculture Ministry says the potential of herbs export is huge. The export value is said to be able to reach 90 million USD in 2023.

“The potential is very huge, extraordinary. You have to remember that Indonesia is known to be the Mother of Spices, as we are the biggest spices producers in Southeast Asia,” said Director of Vegetables and Herbs Andi Muhammad Aidil Fitri on Tuesday (7/30/2024).

In his statement, he says that the herb commodities that are exported are cardamom, curcuma, ginger and turmeric. Ginger and cardamom are the two commodities with the highest export demand.

The Agriculture Ministry reported that the ginger export in 2023 reached 36,859,912 kilograms with a total value of 28,404,717 USD. The export destination countries include Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Singapore.

Meanwhile, the cardamom export in 2023 reached 21,266,248 kilograms with a total value of 65,666,225 USD. The export destination countries include China, Thailand, Taiwan and Korea.
