inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Ahead of the 2025 Chinese New Year celebration, the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Market Traders Association (APPSI), Ngadiran, highlighted the increasing need for basic necessities. The stability of basic food prices remains a primary concern in order to maintain people's purchasing power.
"The price of fruit has indeed increased slightly, but it is not too burdensome for consumers celebrating Chinese New Year," he said on Friday (1/24/2025).
Furthermore, he also highlighted basic necessities such as rice, chilies, onions, and eggs that remain a concern for the public. The price of eggs, although slightly increased, is still considered affordable by the lower middle class.
He explained that the price of eggs ranges from IDR 28,000 to IDR 30,000 per kilogram. This price increase is influenced by the cost of animal feed such as corn which is increasingly expensive.
Ngadiran continued that HET is very important to prevent uncontrolled price spikes as he hopes the government would implement HET for cooking oil.
As the world's largest palm oil producer, Indonesia must take advantage of its strategic position. Ngadiran proposed that cooking oil producers set aside 25-30 percent of production for local needs without government subsidies.
