Air Force to Acquire New UAVs, Enhance National Defense

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force Marshal Tonny Harjono announced on Monday (22/4/2024) that the Air Force would soon possess new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to complement the main weapon system equipment. 

After the 78th anniversary celebration of the Air Force in Yogyakarta, he explained that these UAVs, equipped with satellite technology, supported "beyond visual range" (BVR) or long-range air battles. 

Commander Tonny said that UAVs being procured, including CH-4, Anka, and Bayraktar drones with "Medium Altitude Long Endurance" (MALE) capabilities. 

He emphasized that government policies significantly influenced the Indonesian Air Force's activities, including main weapon system equipment procurement. 

Commander Tonny highlighted that these modern drones were part of the new weapon equipment aircraft being procured to enhance the Indonesian Air Force's capabilities.
