Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Bangka. Bangka Belitung (Babel) Regional Police managed to arrest vandalism perpetrators of Production Suction Vessel (KIP) Citra Bangka Lestari (CBL) owned by partner PT Timah Tbk occurred in water of Deniang Village, Riau Silip District, Bangka Regency, last week.
In press conference held by Chief of Babel Regional Police, Police Inspector General Anang Syarif Hidayat said his party has now arrested seven perpetrators who are residents of Deniang Village and Mapur Village, Riau Silip District.
"These perpetrators together departed from Air Hantu Beach by boat to get to KIP CBL, and immediately carried out vandalism, destroying almost all parts of the ship using wood and iron as tools," Chief of Babel Regional Police explained.
The two-star general added after investigations were carried out by Directorate of Water Police and Directorate of General Crimes, Babel Regioal Police by referring to the evidence from the ship's CCTV footage and eye witnesses, his party has currently still identified 7 perpetrators as suspects in crimes against people or goods.
Names of the suspects include S alias Ng who played the role as the mastermind who ordered other perpetrators to board KIP CBL to commit vandalism, and H alias B who acted as the perpetrator who persecuted ship's security guard named Suranda.
Then other five perpetrators are Hs alias M, Eh alias A, P alias R, Y alias K, and Aj, who aldo took part in destroying ship with violence.
"The suspects were arrested at their respective homes on Monday (07/19/2021), and their detention has been officially carried out starting on Tuesday (07/20/2021)," Chief of Babel Regional Police explained.
Chief of Babel Regional Police also explained currently his party has secured evidence in the form of 100 sticks of wood with the length of about one meter, 2 CCTV DVRs on the ship, damaged ship navigation equipment, and number of tin sandbags.
For their actions, the suspects are subject to multiple articles, i.e. Article 170 paragraph (1) with maximum penalty of 5 years 6 months in prison, and paragraph (2) with maximum penalty of 7 years in prison, if proven intentionally destroying goods or harmed other.
Further, Article 410 with penalty of 5 years imprisonment if he intentionally violates the law by committing acts of destroying or causing building or ship that belongs to another person.unusable wholly or partly.
