Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Bali denied entry to 318 foreigners during January-March 2024 due to criminal backgrounds or lack of valid travel documents. "The majority  lacked Indonesian visas," he said on Tuesday (9/4/2024). This marked an increase from the 217 rejections recorded during the same period in 2023, according to antaranews.com. Reasons for rejection in the first quarter of this year included passports with less than six months validity, affecting 32 individuals. In addition, 16 individuals were blacklisted, 11 were wanted by Interpol, one was involved in pedophilia, and 126 had other reasons. Aside from rejections, Ngurah Rai Immigration postponed the departure of 103 foreigners, including 84 suspected Indonesian migrant workers  without proper procedures. Four foreigners overstayed their permits, and 15 had other reasons. In terms of law enforcement and supervision, Ngurah Rai Immigration deported 37 foreigners and temporarily detained 27 in Immigration Detention Rooms or Houses during the first quarter of 2024. The majority of deported foreigners were from Australia, Iran, the United States, Russia, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom, primarily due to violations or overstaying permits. Meanwhile, during the first quarter of 2024, approximately 1.3 million foreign tourists entered Bali through Ngurah Rai Immigration, marking a nearly 32 percent increase from the same period in 2023, which saw approximately 884,000 arrivals. The top 10 countries with the highest number of visitors were Australia, China, India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Japan. These foreign tourist arrivals contributed to Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) at Ngurah Rai Immigration, reaching Rp483.5 billion in the first three months of 2025. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
