Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) increased their monitoring on drug flow on Sumatra Island as most of the drugs in Indonesia are coming from there. Head of BNN, Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom says the reason most drugs coming from there is because Sumatra is the transit area and borders with other countries. “So, we will build an intelligent fence, preventive fence, law enforcer, and rehabilitation center there,” says BNN Chief on Friday (4/5/2024). In realizing the plan, Marthinus had visited Medan several days ago to follow up the direction of President Joko Widodo who had asked for a breakthrough in eradicating drugs. The President is seeing several issues related to drugs, such as 1.96% of Indonesian society or around 3.6 million of people have been exposed to drugs. This case caused the number of rehabilitators in the rehabilitation center to increase. Moreover, Jokowi also stressed the need for firm law enforcement that could provide a deterrent effect.
