The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif anticipates the increase of subsidy and compensation for gasoline as the strength of Rupiah is weakened and the price of world oil is increased. “Yes, we are anticipating the increase of subsidy and compensation,” said Minister Arifin quoted from Antara on Friday (4/5/2024). He says that what’s important for now is to maintain the stability of energy in meeting the needs of the people. On the other hand, Arifin says that the government is trying to maintain the price of the fuel oil for the people and prevent it from increasing until June. In the future, he considers that looking for energy efficiency steps is important. Regarding the energy stability during the homecoming season, Minister Arifin ensures that the fuel and gas stock is still safe. To ensure the fuel and gas stock is available, the ministry has formed a task force and has begun operation from March 25th - April 21st. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
