BPBD Records the Number of Flood Victims in Kudus and Demak Reached 4,277

Inp.polri.go.id – Central Java. Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reports 4,277 of flood affected victims in Kudus and Demak Regency, Central Java, have been evacuated to the evacuation posts. “On Sunday (3/17/2024), the numbers of refugees recorded in Kudus Regency is 1,619 and 700 in Demak Regency. Meanwhile, for today, exactly at 08.00 am, the number rocketed to 4,277,” says Head of Kudus BPBD Emergency and Logistics section, Munaji on Monday (18/3/24). Additionally, Munaji states that the evacuation posts are spread across 24 locations, ranging to houses of worship, village hall, people’s houses, PKK building, TPQ, NU Muslimat building, Kudus DPRD Building, Kudus Jam'iyyatul Hujjaj (JHK) building, Islamic boarding school, and even market. For the refugees from Demak, they are evacuated to five different locations, which are JHK Building, Kudus DPRD Building, Graha Mustika, NU Muslimat Building, and Saerah Market. “To meet their primary needs, we build 15 public kitchens for the refugees,” said Munaji. Meanwhile, the village affected by the flood are increasing to 31 villages across five districts which previously stands at 29 villages. Kudus BPBD currently is still trying to evacuate flood victims as many of them still decides to stay at their own houses when the flood was still shallow. In optimizing flood handling, Kudus Government announced alert situation for strong wind, flood, and land slide disaster. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
