Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police Chief inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri has outlined security strategies for the upcoming regional elections in Papua.
He acknowledged the challenges of the election process in the region, including weather conditions, security issues, potential horizontal conflicts, and threats from Armed Criminal Groups (KKB).
To address these concerns, the Papua Police have requested assistance from the Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters to deploy Special Mobile Brigade(Brimob Nusantara) units. These forces will be stationed in key areas to enhance security and facilitate personnel mobility if disturbances occur.
The exact number of Brimob Nusantara personnel assigned remains undecided, but their deployment is expected to significantly aid in ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections. The units will focus on conflict-prone areas like Nduga, Intan Jaya, Puncak, Pegunungan Bintang, and Yahukimo, sai Chief Fakhiri.
