Inp.polri.go.id – Central Java. Central Java Regional Police Invites people to beware with the spread of radical ideologies in social media amidst the 2024 General Election campaign. The terrorist groups and radical movements allegedly tries to shake the balance of public security and order by taking advantage of the commotions around the election. “For that, people are expected to be wise and smart in using social media. Group with radical ideologies will took advantage of the current situation in various media platform, particularly social media. This a real threat that we are facing together now,” says the Central Java Regional Police PR Chief, Senior Superintendent Satake Bayu Setianto on Thursday (2/1/2024). Moreover, Satake states that the terrorist group and radical movements have the agenda to cause instability and faith crisis towards the democratic process in Indonesia. They aim to spread the ideologies that contradicts with Pancasila and democracy. Furthermore, the PR Chief also highlights that the youths are their main target, thus he implores parents, teachers, and neighborhoods to protect their children from the toxic ideologies. “These youths also need to be aware and smart in filtering their friendship and able to sort out information in the social media. Don’t abstain, trust our democratic system and be kind to others,” advised Satake. Satake hopes that the youths, as the majority user of social media, to proactively contribute in the 2024 General Election and not provoked by hoax in social media. (ad/rz/pr/nm)
