Police Monitor the Legal Process of Papuan Rights Activist Murder in Wamena

The Investigation Sub-task force of Damai Cartenz Ops Law Enforcement Task Force, led by First Police Inspector Joko Purwadi escort the two murderer who killed Papuan activist, Michelle Kurisi Doga, to Wamena District Prosecutor's Office on Thursday (1/2/24). The two murder suspects, Ditius Wenda alias Person Murib (26) and Rupinus Murib alias Rudi Komba (28), were escorted to the Sentani Airport from Papua Regional Police HQ before being moved to the Prosecutor’s Office in Wamena. Conforming the report, Damai Cartenz Task Force Public Relations Chief, Police Superintendent Bayu Suseno says that the two suspect and their two guardians arrived in Wamena Airport at 08.30 am. “The process of the Second Phase for the two murderers is ongoing at Wamena Prosecutor’s Office,” says Bayu. Furthermore, Bayu adds that two suspects has violated Primary Article 340 of the Criminal Code Subsidiary Article 338 of the Criminal Code, and/or Article 351 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 55, Article 56 in murdering Michelle Kurisi Doga. “Suspects allegedly killed a human rights activist Ms. Michelle Kurisi Doga on August 28th, 2023 at Koloak Atas District, Lany Jaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan,” reports Bayu. The legal process will continue accordingly and it will reveal the truth and uphold justice for the murder of Michelle Kurisi Doga. “We hope that this process would provide legal certainty for the victims and the people of Papua, and would serve as an example of law enforcement that is fair,” conclude Bayu.
