Chief of Papua Regional Police Rejects the News Stating Mob's Assault

Inp.polri.go.id- Papua. Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri rejects news reporting a mob attack at the funeral home of the late Vice Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal.

Previously, some news reports mob attack occurred when some officials visit the funeral house of Klemen Tinal, who passed away on Friday (21/5).

"There was no such attack. It is not true", the Chief of Papua Regional Police said Saturday (22/5) night.

Fakhiri admits he and some of his colleagues visits the funeral home. Related to the mob attack issue, Fakhiri said that it is typical culture in Papua.

"Their culture is that they dance and lash their cry around Klemen's body", Chief of Papua Regional Police said.

Klemen Tinal passed away in Jakarta on Friday (21/5). This news is confirmed by the Director-General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Akmal Malik.

Klemen Tinal was a native Papuan born 50 years ago. He was inaugurated by the president along with the governor Lukas Enembe by President Joko Widodo in 2018. Klemen also served the same position during the sixth president era (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono).
