inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi announced two new policies for the online gambling eradication effort in Indonesia.
The new policy will require all Electronic System Organizers (PSE) to sign the integrity pact that will affirm their commitment to not facilitate online gambling content in their platform. The other policy is a declaration to work together with Indonesian Bank, Financial Services Authority (OJK), and eleven national payment system associations and societies.
“I am optimistic that these two breakthroughs can accelerate and improve the effectiveness in closing the gaps in transactions and activities related to online gambling," said the Minister of Communication and Information on Wednesday (28/8/2024).
According to the PPATK data per July 2024, there is a decline in public access to the online gambling sites for 50 percent and a decrease of public deposits on these sites reached 34.49 trillion IDR.
He hopes that Indonesia will tighten the breathing space of online gambling space to protect the general public from the harm of the gambling.
