Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Minister of Law and Rights, Yasonna Laoly says that Correctional Service Day is a huge transformation for the Indonesian criminal system. This is because with the initial prison system that only jailed the criminals, the correctional system instead aims to reform the criminal to a better path.

According to Minister Yasonna, the prison system is a colonial legacy that did not reflect the ideology of Pancasila.

“Correctional system is a revolutionary step that mirrors Indonesia's concern and its stance against all forms of discrimination,” said Minister Yasonna on Monday (4/29/2024).

Minister Yasonna believes that law should be able to be the tools in correcting people. He believes that the 60th Correctional Service Day, the Directorate General of Corrections could be the institution that would change the criminals into a better person.

“Continue to serve the community and inmates. Our work needs honest dedication, having the commitment to maintain moral integrity, and having the belief in building a better society for the better future,” conclude Yasonna.
