Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The administration of East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), said that eight villages across two districts suffered the most severe damage from the recent eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
“There are eight villages most severely affected, spread across Wulanggitang and Ile Bura districts,” East Flores Communications and Information Office Head, Herry Lamawuran, said on Tuesday (5/11/2024).
The eruption, which occurred on Sunday evening, has led to significant loss of life, with nine confirmed fatalities—four men and five women.
The hardest-hit villages in Wulanggitang District include Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Pululera, Boru, Boru Kedang, and Nawokote. In Ile Bura District, Dulipali and Nobo were the most affected.
Public facilities also sustained extensive damage. A total of 18 kindergartens and preschools, one elementary school, three junior high schools, and three high schools were reported damaged.
Other infrastructure impacted includes three dormitories, three convents, three chapels, two cooperative buildings, two banks (Bank NTT and Bank BRI), and the local post office.
An estimated 2,384 homes were damaged, struck by material from the eruption.
