Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong highlighted the looming threat of water scarcity triggering future conflicts during the the Environmental Agency Convention in Jakarta on Saturday (27/4/2024),
"Freshwater could become a factor in future wars. We're not talking about wars over oil in the future, but wars over water," he said in Jakarta on Saturday (27/4/2024).
According to Alue, the availability of water is decreasing over time, as seen in Africa, and similar situations could occur in other parts of the world.
The availability of clean and adequate water for daily needs is dwindling, given the current environment dominated by waste and other forms of pollution in rivers, soil, and elsewhere.
Therefore, the availability of clean water is one of the main agendas of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), scheduled to be held on 18-25 May 2024 in Badung, Bali.
The 10rth WWF 2024 prioritizes issues of water conservation, sanitation, food security, energy, and disaster mitigation.
