Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has ordered crypto asset service providers to identify users and automatically report crypto transaction data to the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), strengthening tax transparency and compliance starting 2026.
“This policy ensures financial transparency and supports fair taxation in the rapidly growing crypto sector,” he said after a limited cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (5/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The requirement is regulated under Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No.108/2025 and follows Indonesia’s commitment to the OECD-developed Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). It applies to crypto exchanges and intermediaries facilitating asset transfers or acting as transaction counterparties.
Providers must report user identities, transaction values, year-end balances, and large retail payments exceeding USD 50,000. Reporting will begin in 2027 for 2026 transaction data.
Failure to record relevant transactions requires a nil report submission. The regulation was signed on 29 December 2025, and took effect on 31 December 2025.
