Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs formulated a  evacuation plan to Indonesians living or staying in Palestine amid the escalating security situation in the region. "In areas where there is still a reasonable level of safety, such as certain locations in Israel, we strongly advise our fellow Indonesians, including tourists, to swiftly evacuate those areas."Judha Nugraha, Director of the Indonesian Citizenss Protection at the Ministry, said in a statement on Tuesday (10/10/2023); Nugraha underscored the fact that the security conditions differ widely depending on the specific location, be it in Palestine or Israel. The Foreign Minister has issued a directive to Indonesian citizens in both Palestine and Israel to exercise heightened vigilance and maintain constant communication with Indonesian representatives in their respective areas. For those who had scheduled visits to these regions, the Minister advised them to consider postponing or canceling their trips until further notice from the government. The Ministry strongly encourages Indonesian citizens facing emergency situations to make immediate use of the hotlines provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Cairo, and Beirut. The latest data reveals that there are approximately 45 Indonesian citizens in Palestine, with ten of them located in Gaza, while the rest are in the West Bank. Around 230 Indonesian citizens have been on religious tourism trips to various parts of Israel.  There have been no reports of harm to any of them as of Tuesday morning. Over the weekend, the Hamas group launched an attack on Israel, involving rocket attacks and the infiltration of fighters into Israeli cities near the Gaza Strip. The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of approximately 700 Israeli civilians and the abduction of dozens, marking the deadliest assault since the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago. In response, Israel carried out its most extensive bombing campaign in Gaza, leading to the loss of over 400 lives and leaving thousands injured. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
